Logo of the most ambitious Italian human data science project unveiled

The steering committee of Health Big Data (HBD), the multi-year project financed by the MEF and coordinated by the Ministry of Health for the creation of a technological platform dedicated to the collection, analysis and sharing of clinical and scientific data of patients in the Institutes for Hospitalisation and Care with Scientific Character (IRCCS), has chosen the HBD logo from a shortlist of valid proposals.

The symbol evokes some of the key concepts of the project: the human genome, movement and the exchange of data made interoperable by the work of researchers. Graphic solidity is ensured by the use of sharp, defined lines that symbolise stability and confidence. The choice of a “lighter” font for the text emphasises the perception of connection and advanced technology and reflects one of the main goals of HBD, which is to promote innovation in health data management.

Health Big Data is implemented by Italy’s health and IT elite: the Ministry of Health Networks  (Oncology, Cardiology, Neurology and Paediatrics), the National Institute of Nuclear Physics, the Polytechnic, the Polytechnic Foundation of Milan and Reply. HBD is an extraordinary step forward in the digitalisation of Italian healthcare, which began with the Electronic Health File and is a unique project of its kind in Italy.
